Future Continuous Tense

Talk confidently about actions that will be in progress at a specific future moment.


1. Quick Reminder (from B1 Future Forms)

  • I will go to the store tomorrow.
  • She will call you later.
  • They will arrive at 3 PM.

The Future Continuous builds on will but shifts the focus to an action in progress at a future time.


2. Core Form

Subject + will + be + verb(-ing)

  • I will be waiting for you at 7 p.m.
  • She will be presenting when you join the meeting.
  • They will not be using the lab this afternoon.

Questions

  • Will you be traveling during the conference week?
  • What will they be discussing at the round table?

3. When to Use It

4. Time Expressions

  • at this time tomorrow, when, while, during, throughout, by the time, soon after
  • Combine with calendar points: this time next week, all evening, throughout the semester.

Future Simple vs. Future Continuous

Use will + base verb for single future actions (I will call you later). Choose will be + -ing for activities already operating at that future moment (I will be calling clients all afternoon).
